With all the advice to take extra care when washing your hands, relating to the COVID-19 pandemic, I do wonder what people were doing before the coronavirus chaos. Hand cleanliness is extremely important (pandemic or not) and should be a frequently-repeated step in your daily skincare and wellness routine.
First and foremost here, education is a life-saver so, make sure you are fully-informed about coronavirus. The NHS have made clear advice available and you can access that here: NHS Website – Coronavirus (COVID-19).
The main focus from the get-go, regarding coronavirus, has been on efficient hand washing and making sure that you wash your hands for long enough and with the correct products – which led to the creation of this gem: Wash Your Lyrics, where you can generate hand washing infographics based on your favourite song lyrics.

It smells really nice and my hands actually feel really, really clean when I use it – more than they do with anything else I’ve used but the best thing is, even though it has a scent, that scent doesn’t transfer to anything else, like food for instance.

Although ALL CLEAN was loved for its gentle feel and comforting freshness, it is now a discontinued item and no longer available through official retailers. Many of us still remember it fondly and I continue to hope it may return in the future because it was a kind and reliable option for quick refreshes.

You will often hear me talk about the multipurpose uses of many of our products and for the purposes of this post – remember this:
- You can use any of our cleansers to wash your hands (even our shampoo). Soap and water is by far the best thing to use but, any cleanser is better than none.
- You can use any of our moisturisers to hydrate the skin on your hands.
- You can use any of our exfoliators or scrubs on your hands.
Washing your hands regularly and thoroughly is always recommended, whatever the time of the year or circumstance as touching anything with unwashed hands is a rapid way to spread germs. We all know this so, when there is a higher risk than usual, we all take more care and step up our hand cleanliness routine.
Make regular hand washing a part of your every day rituals; be well and remember, washing your hands with anything, from dish soap to luxury products is always preferable to not washing them at all.
Oh, and once more – don’t forget to moisturise! You can even massage any extra product from your face and/or body skincare routine into you hands and arms.
It’s also well worth mentioning that I see so many skincare product adverts where creams/scrubs are scooped out with the fingers but, when you do this, you are transferring potentially harmful bacteria from your hands to your pots of goodness.
Many germs are spread by hands that aren’t as clean as they could be (not just coronavirus).
We used to provide spatulas with all of our jars but, even though they are washable and reusable, in the interests of reducing our plastic use and improving our environmental position, TEMPLESPA are phasing them out, saving an additional 0.3 tonnes of plastic per year. You can still buy cosmetic spatulas very easily online.
Cleansing your hands thoroughly and often is important for your health and for that of others so, take care of your hands, always.
