#EatYourSkincare

The ‘eat your skincare’ philosophy isn’t new to TEMPLESPA; they’ve been passionately championing this approach for over 25 years.

It’s not just about suggesting healthy eating; it’s deeply embedded in their product development. TEMPLESPA innovatively leverages food technology to create formulations rich in ingredients commonly found in the beneficial Mediterranean diet. What’s more, their commitment extends to ensuring these ingredients are not only of high quality but are also sustainably sourced and predominantly vegan, aligning with a conscious and ethical approach to beauty. This dedication means their skincare is designed to nourish your complexion with the very same elements that are good for you inside and out.

TEMPLESPA themselves often share delicious recipes, some in a similar spirit to the ‘eat your skincare’ theme. If you’re keen to browse my own curated collection of their versions, you can find them here. Do note that not all of these previously-shared recipes may be vegan. I am vegan and wouldn’t construct a non-vegan recipe myself but, I think we all know that there are ‘vegan swaps’ and where appropriate, I have included suggestions.

Intrigued by this unique philosophy, and in the same vein as my #FreezingVegan recipe content, I’ve leveraged AI (Google Gemini to be specific) to suggest some exciting recipes, each inspired by the main ingredients found in TEMPLESPA’s incredible products. Consider this your go-to guide for mouth-watering TEMPLESPA themed ‘eat your skincare’ ideas.

Meanwhile, I’m kicking things off right here with the SAAAHHHLAD recipe, based on ingredients from TEMPLESPA’s AAAHHH! Instant Cooling Balm.

The TEMPLESPA AAAHHH! Instant Cooling Balm tube, with its name and brand clearly visible, is set against a delicate watercolour painting illustrating some of its key ingredients, including dandelion and mint.

TEMPLESPA’s AAAHHH! Instant Cooling Balm is infused with several beneficial food-derived ingredients. Menthol, sourced from peppermint oil, provides a wonderfully cooling and refreshing sensation for the skin. Dandelion Leaf Extract is rich in beta-carotene, an antioxidant that helps maintain healthy-looking skin, and also contains potassium to help reduce water retention. Finally, Radish Root Extract, alongside being rich in hyaluronic acid, offers vitamins A & C, which work to reduce redness, moisturise, and condition the skin.

Here’s a refreshing food recipe that incorporates mint, dandelion leaves (as a food equivalent to dandelion leaf extract), and radishes (as a food equivalent to radish root extract), inspired by your product’s ingredients:

This light and flavourful salad brings together the unique tastes and textures of these ingredients, perfect for the #EatYourSkincare trend.

Ingredients:

  • For the Salad:
    • 100-150g (or a large bunch) fresh dandelion leaves, thoroughly washed and trimmed (ensure they are from a pesticide-free source if foraging)
    • 1 bunch (approx. 6-8) radishes, thinly sliced
    • A small handful (approx. 15-20g) fresh mint leaves, roughly chopped
  • For the Lemon-Herb Vinaigrette:
    • 45ml extra virgin olive oil
    • 15ml fresh lemon juice
    • 2.5ml Dijon mustard (optional, for emulsification)
    • 2.5ml maple syrup (optional, to balance bitterness)
    • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine the washed and dried dandelion leaves, thinly sliced radishes, and roughly chopped fresh mint.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, lemon juice, Dijon mustard (if using), maple syrup (if using), salt, and pepper until well combined.
  3. Pour the vinaigrette over the salad ingredients and toss gently to coat everything evenly.
  4. Serve immediately to enjoy the crispness of the radishes and the freshness of the herbs.
