What Are the Best Daily Hashtags for Skincare and Wellness on X?
Important Note: This guide is specifically written for use on X (formerly Twitter). I do not use Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, or any other social media platform, so the hashtag strategies here are entirely focused on what works best for X. This content evolves over time, as I continue learning and sharing.
Also, this isn’t me standing on a soapbox. I’m not here to shout rules or pretend I’ve got it all figured out. I’m simply sharing what I’ve learned over time with kindness, openness, and a genuine curiosity for what others are doing too. There’s room for different styles, voices, and approaches. And if something works better for you, I’d love to hear about it.
Hashtags: A Brief History (and Why They Still Matter)
![An AI-generated image displaying a rounded rectangular text bubble on a light beige background. Inside the bubble, in a clean sans-serif font, is the text: "how do you feel about using # (pound) for groups. As in #barcamp [msg]?" Below this, in a smaller font, it reads: "Inspired by Chris Messina's original post, 2007".](https://i0.wp.com/melanielampro.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/chatgpt-image-jul-20-2025-09_18_21-pm.png?resize=1024%2C1024&ssl=1)
The humble hashtag started with a quiet nudge in 2007, when Chris Messina casually proposed using the pound symbol to group conversations. The original tweet is now protected, but the idea lives on: “how do you feel about using # (pound) for groups. As in #barcamp [msg]?” It was informal, a little geeky, and honestly quite brilliant.
From that moment, hashtags evolved from a side-note to a staple. They became a way for people to follow threads, discover topics, and connect with others in shared spaces. Not just for visibility, but for voice and intention.
- Keep up with trends
- Join public conversations
- Form micro-communities
In the skincare and wellness world, hashtags offer something beautifully human. They give us a language to connect with others who care about the same values: slow rituals, ethical beauty, shared care. They’re like little markers that say, “you’re in the right place.”
That said, not everyone is a fan. Since taking over X, Elon Musk has expressed a strong dislike for hashtag clutter. And I’ll be honest, I don’t often find myself aligned with Elon. But on this one small point, I sort of understand. When hashtags are used carelessly or crammed in for the sake of it, they can start to feel spammy or performative. That’s not the vibe.
He’s suggested that AI and search are smart enough now to make hashtags unnecessary, especially in polished content and ads.
I don’t agree. While the tech is clever, a well-chosen hashtag still has something no algorithm can replicate: human touch.
So yes, let’s be thoughtful. Let’s skip the hashtag soup that just mirrors the “trending for you” list. Like this:
i’m just gonna #randomly #ThrowIn #everytrendinghashtag I Can Fit Even If there’s #nocontext and i don’t even care if I Run Out Of Room #YOLO #fyp #follow4follow #lifehack #NoCap #viral #Foodie #instagood #MondayMood #catsoftiktok #influencerlife #Repost #motivated 🧃🧃🧃
This isn’t connection. It’s noise.
My view is simple: you don’t have to use hashtags. But if you do, let them mean something. Let them serve your message, not distract from it.
When chosen with care, hashtags can:
- Help your people find you
- Keep posts relevant long after they’re published
- Add clarity and nuance
- Support real, human conversations
I used to overdo it too. Now I aim for two or three that feel right, aligned with the post, the tone, and the people I want to reach.
And honestly? I’m still fond of them. They’ve been part of my journey, from friendly banter on early Twitter to today’s calmer, more intentional posts. Hashtags still belong in our world, used with purpose and a little heart.
Quick Tips Before You Post

- Use two or three relevant hashtags per post. More feels like shouting into the void.
- Capitalise each word, for example #SelfCareSunday. This helps with readability and accessibility.
- Keep an eye on what’s happening in your corner of X. Tools like Flick, or simply using X’s own search are helpful.
- You don’t have to use them, but when you do, let them be meaningful.
- Consider creating a branded hashtag that reflects your vibe, just like I use #FairySpamother🧚♀️ for my personal posts and #XSelfCare💋 to connect with the self-care community. I’d love to see what you come up with.

A Few Hashtags I Gently Skip
Some hashtags might be trending, but that doesn’t always mean they belong in your world. I’ve seen a few floating around that feel more like filler than connection, especially in wellness, skincare, or small-batch beauty content.
Here are a handful I personally avoid:
- #FYP / #ForYouPage – More for TikTok. Not very helpful on X.
- #InstaGood / #PhotoOfTheDay – Too vague and gets lost.
- #YOLO / #Viral / #NoCap – Fun in some circles, but not very aligned here.
- #Follow4Follow / #Like4Like – Feels transactional, not relational.
- #LifeHack – Overused. If it’s really helpful, there’s a better tag for it.
Of course, you do you. I just find a well-chosen, value-aligned hashtag says more with less.
A Sunday Setup (If You’re in the Mood)

Sundays have their own kind of rhythm. Slower. A little softer. I’ve found it’s a beautiful time to pause, take stock, and gently map out what’s ahead.
If you create content, consult, or run a brand, batching a few ideas on a Sunday can bring ease to your week. No need to force it. Just set the mood with a warm drink, some music, maybe a candle or two.
I’ve been thinking I might start sharing my own quiet planning moments using #SundaySetup. It’s not a system. It’s more of a small ritual. If you’ve got one too, I’d love to see it.
