THE FOOD OF LOVE

TEMPLESPA use food technology in their product development.

This approach was notably highlighted during a discussion about IN THE BEGINNING, with culinary goddess Nigella Lawson.

There’s gotta be a chef or a cook that is behind that product.

Well, it is food technology.⁣⁣

There’s a reason that they use so many natural ingredients in their products. The significant health advantages of nutrient-rich foods go way further than your plate.

Let’s examine these foods of love more closely. We will discover why they might make our hearts beat a little faster.

Apples

This very well-known fruit was once used in love rituals due to its perceived aphrodisiac qualities. It was also an element in many love spells. Yet, its mystical significance is often overlooked.

When I was a child, I was told that if I peeled an apple, then threw the skin over my shoulder, it would land in the shape of my sweetheart’s initial.

I ate a lot of apples, that week.

Apples are one of the many natural ingredients in BREAKFAST SMOOTHIE Gentle Exfoliator.

Basil

A symbol of love in many cultures, Basil also signifies friendship. It is not uncommon to gift pots or bunches of the herb to new homeowners.

What a lovely way to say, “Welcome to your new home!”

Basil Oil is also an ingredient of IN THE BEGINNING Deep Cleansing Melt. This is a lovely way to say, “Welcome to your new face!”

Beetroot

In Ancient Greece, it was thought that a couple, eating from the same beetroot would fall in love. Whilst I adore beetroot, I am not likely to share my food. This is probably why I am still single.

Beetroot can be found in BE STRONG Skin Strengthening Serum.

Black Summer Truffles

If you’re familiar with TEMPLESPA, you’ll know they have a fondness for Black Summer Truffles. These intriguing fungi are not much to look at in their natural form. Yet, these wild mushrooms can be captivating in more ways than one.

The truffle ‘bouquet’ is musky and (without getting all science-y) akin to a male pheromone. Presumably, this would make them a great food for attracting love. Alternatively, you can go ahead and just put them on your face (with one of your truffle products that is).

TRUFFLESQUE Ultra Hydration & Radiance Masque includes Black Summer Truffles. It also contains pure gold and diamonds. I have this fantasy of one of my customers popping an engagement ring into a pot of this and waiting.

Cinnamon

Cinnamon is purported to get the blood racing. It has been used as an arousing scent. Additionally, it has served as a sexual stimulant for centuries.

I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes and cinnamon. Come, let’s drink deeply of love till morning; let’s enjoy ourselves with love! My husband is not at home; he has gone on a long journey.

Proverbs 7:17

Wait! What? Has he really? Hopefully not via the 24-hour oasis to pick you up some wilted blooms. Honestly, someone probably needs to tell him that ship has sailed.

Cinnamon is used in ALL IS WELL Hydrating hand Lotion. I think it now goes without saying that one should be careful what one touches next after using it.

Figs

In certain ancient cultures, figs were considered to be a sacred fruit and associated with female genitalia, fertility and love. If you’re feeling all warm and fuzzy about figs at this point then I would skip the next piece of information: You’ll Never Be Able To Unlearn What Figs Are, HuffPost Food & Drink.

TEMPLESPA use figs in their deliciously decadent DUVET Comforting Body Cream.

Ginger

Ginger is known to be a stimulant. It can naturally improve blood flow and circulation, making it an official sexy spice.

TONING ESSENCE Alcohol-Free Hydration Toner contains ginger.

Grapes

What do grapes make? Wine.
What is wine? It’s a modern-day love potion, that’s what.

The absolute must-have accessory for your Bacchanalian cavorting is red wine. You may have heard it called ‘vino’, from the Latin vinum. It contains an antioxidant (resveratrol) that improves blood circulation.

It’s also 99.9% guaranteed to make you tell several people you love them after a few glasses. I blame Venus (the clue’s in the name), Roman Goddess of Love.*

One of the products TEMPLESPA use grapes in is EXALT Firming Neck Gel. It is the most glorious shade of pink and smells of roses. It’s like Valentine’s Day in a jar!

*Drink responsibly.

Honey

Honey comes from honey bees. These bees have many cultural associations with love. This includes a connection with Cupid, the Roman God of Love.

Honey pops up in SOLE BALM Luxurious Skincare For The Feet.

I’m a musician as well as a TEMPLESPA Consultant. The first single my current band released was positively dripping with symbology. It featured themes of honey, bees, and duplicity. Oh, and hearts too.

Well, as the bard once said: “If music be the food of love, play on…”

Lemon

Just as lemons are considered to be both a sweet and sour food, they are symbolic of love and longevity. Contrarily, they can represent bitterness and regret. This depends on the cultural reference or my relationship status at any given time.

You can find lemon in many TEMPLESPA products, including versatile PEACE BE STILL Calming Skin Balm.

Pomegranate

In some cultures, Pomegranates symbolise love, fertility, togetherness, marriage, and life. To me, it’s the ultimate Valentine’s Day fruit. It’s like a big heart filled with lots of tiny, juicy hearts.

Close to my own heart is gorgeous SUGAR BUFF Smoothing Body Scrub which is a wonderful skin prep’ experience.

Strawberries

Strawberries do look like little hearts, don’t they? Perhaps this is why they were adopted as a symbol for Venus, the Roman Goddess of Love. According to folklore, if you break a double strawberry in half and share it with someone, you will fall in love with that person.

Again, with the food-sharing though; I am on the wrong path, aren’t I?

Many people have fallen in love with strawberry-infused SKIN TRUFFLE Ultra Radiance Moisturiser.

Some of these foods mentioned and many more are considered to be aphrodisiacs. Frankly, this is a whole other blog post for another day. Despite that, I must finish this blog post with a food traditionally linked to Valentine’s Day. That food is chocolate!

It’s almost not Valentine’s Day at all if you haven’t been gifted a huge, heart-shaped box of chocolates. Maybe it’s a popular gift of love because chocolate triggers the release of endorphins. It also releases serotonin in the human brain. These chemicals produce feelings of love and euphoria.

Chocolate itself is not found within any TEMPLESPA products. They do use cocoa in their truffle range, and that’s pretty darn close. However, free chocolates do come as standard with every order you place!

Finally, I make zero claims that eating any of these food items will enhance your love life. Applying them on your face via TEMPLESPA products will not enhance it either (and no, I’m still not sharing).
