One of the questions I’ve been asked over the years is whether TEMPLESPA is “just for women”.

It’s an understandable question. Walk into most skincare departments and it’s easy to get the impression that skincare is still marketed primarily towards women, with a small shelf somewhere for men.

My experience has been rather different.

I’ve been using TEMPLESPA since 2016 and, over the years, I’ve sold products to plenty of male customers. Some buy for themselves. Some are introduced to the brand by a partner. Some start off receiving a gift and then come back for more.

What I’ve noticed is that men often approach skincare slightly differently.

Not better. Not worse. Just differently.

The men I speak to are rarely interested in owning lots of products for the sake of it. They’re usually interested in finding products they genuinely enjoy using and then sticking with them.

Perhaps that’s why certain products come up time and time again.

PEACE BE STILL is one.

For anyone who shaves regularly, irritated skin can be a nuisance. PEACE BE STILL has earned a loyal following because it helps calm and comfort the skin without feeling heavy or greasy.

GOOD TO GO is another.

It’s a cleanser that simply gets on with the job. It leaves skin feeling clean and refreshed, which is exactly what most people want from a cleanser.

Then there’s BREAKFAST SMOOTHIE.

I’ve always thought the name was rather fun, but the reason people keep buying it has nothing to do with the name. It leaves skin feeling smoother and brighter, and people notice the difference.

The product that perhaps surprises people most is REPOSE.

For some reason, there’s still an assumption that men aren’t interested in products that help them relax and unwind.

Yet I’ve sold plenty of pots of REPOSE over the years.

After all, who doesn’t enjoy a good night’s sleep, a moment of calm, or a product that feels lovely to use at the end of a long day?

And then we come to TRUFFLE NOIR.

If I could point to one thing that challenges the stereotype that men only want basic skincare, it would be this range.

TRUFFLE NOIR has long been one of the top-selling TEMPLESPA moisturisers bought by men at Harrods, TEMPLESPA’s only permanent retail outlet.

That tells me something.

Men are perfectly capable of appreciating luxury skincare when it’s good.

In fact, I don’t think the conversation should really be about men’s skincare or women’s skincare at all.

Most of us want the same things.

Products that work.

Products that feel good to use.

Products that are worth the money.

After nearly a decade with TEMPLESPA, that’s probably the biggest lesson I’ve learned.

Good skincare doesn’t care who’s using it.
